How can I change the small picture in my profile?

You must be referring to the avatar. To change the avatar, hold your cursor over 'My Account' in the top menu, then click on 'Avatar' in the drop-down. On the right hand side in the 'Add New Avatar' section, click on 'Choose File' and browse to the image you want to add, then select it. Crop the portion of the image you like best and either check or uncheck 'Copy to profile photos album'. Then click on 'Add Avatar'. You can always choose an avatar from our selection on the left.

How much control do I have over who sees what in my profile?

You have absolute control over who sees what and can allow as little or as much access to your profile or on different parts of your profile. This can be based on individuals or groups.

How do I know if someones online?

The Members block at the top of the page with all the member pictures has tabs , "latest" "top" and "online".
Or hover the cursor over the 'People' tab on the uppermost navigation menu and click on 'Online' in the dropdown.

How do I change my online status?

In the bottom navigation bar, click on the colored icon next to your user name. Then select you preferred online status.

How do I use the Instant Messenger?

There are two IMs (Instant Messengers) to choose from:

Simple Messenger

• appears in the bottom righthand corner along bottom menu
• flashes red when new message is received
• uses colour coding system (as explained above) to indicate online status
• expands upwards when clicked on (think Facebook)
• text based only
• contains a link to the video messenger
• displays a profile picture of person you are talking with
• displays their status update message

To start chatting with someone using the Simple Messenger, they must of course be online. Look for a yellow sphere in the top right hand corner of their picture/avatar. If you place the cursor over their picture and wait a couple of seconds, a small window with a selection of buttons will pop up. If they are online then at the bottom of that window you will see the word 'Chat' with a field to enter your message. Click on that empty field, type your message and hit the 'Enter' key on your keyboard. You should be able to do this in most areas of the site with the exception of the shoutbox and the forum.

The best place to see who is online and then start a chat is by hovering the cursor over 'People' on the uppermost menu and then click on 'Online' in the dropdown.

Video Messenger

• appears in a detached window that can be moved to any part of your screen
• audible alert when new message is received
• chat using either text, audio or video (microphone and webcam are necessary for audio/video chat)
• send and receive files
• controls for what the other person sees or hears from you are around your own picture
• controls for what you see or hear from the other person are around their picture

We would like to hold an event. How can we let everyone know about it?

You are more than welcome to place the details of your event in our events section:

• you can add photos, video to promote the future event
• once the event has passed, you can add more photos and video to show everyone what they missed
• you and your guests can posts comments about the event
• you can even start your own forum dedicated to your own event too

There are some details in my profile that I would like to change but it won't let me.

If you have genuinely made a mistake with your profile such as your date of birth or gender (don't laugh....it happens) or if you no longer like your chosen nickname then contact the admin department with details of what you need changing and we will do it for you.

How can I check who's been viewing my profile?

Click on 'My Account' in the top menu (just under the Lworld logo). In the 'Account Control' section on the left hand side you can see lots of detail about your profile. Check out the 'Tracker' section to see how many people have been viewing your profile. .

What is the difference between'My Account' and 'Profile View'?

'My Account' can only be viewed by you.

'Profile View' is what everyone else sees depending on your privacy settings. Though of course they will not have access to the same 'Actions' that you can see in your own 'Profile View'.

I have forgotten my password. What can I do?

Just click here and you will be taken to a page that will ask you for your email address. Enter it and press submit and your username/password will be instantly emailed to you.

I have met someone but don't want to cancel my membership. What are my options?

Great news and congratulations. Lworld is not just about dating but also support and community so we understand your reluctance to cancel and you do have the option to stay on board and participate in a non-romantic way. As we like to say, 'Lworld is not just about dates but mates too'.

You can either:

• suspend your membership by clicking on 'Suspend' on the 'Account Control' section of the 'My Account' page
• or you can hide it from everyone going to 'Profile View' ,clicking on 'Edit' and then changing the 'Who can see it' field under 'Edit Profile Privacy' to 'Me only' then clicking on 'Save'.

Can I customize my profile?

Yes you most certainly can. Go to your profile, click on the 'Customize' button. From there you'll be able to change color, the background picture, borders and fonts.

Can I change my email address and other information?

Yes you can by going to your profile and clicking on 'Edit' and then changing what you need changed. You can keep your profile fresh and up to date this way though some changes will require re-activation of your profile for security reasons. This is done to ensure that Lworld continues to be a safe place for ALL its members.

What are Tags?

Tags are single descriptive words that are then used by the system to find you. These words are turned into links so people can click them to find you.

Can I upload nude photos?

NO!

I want to suspend my account, how would I do it?

Click on ' My Account' in the top menu under the ' Lworld Logo'. In the 'Account Control' left side of page down to the 'Account Info' then 'Profile Status' is ' Suspend'. Click on 'Suspend' then on the following page click on 'Suspend account'. You can always reactivate it yourself later on should you choose to do so.

If I wanted to delete my account, how would I do it?

You can delete your account at anytime by hovering the cursor over 'My Account' under the 'Lworld Logo' in the top menu, then clicking on 'Unregister' and then if you are 100% sure, on the following page click on the 'Delete account' button.

Please remember that deleting your account is non-reversible so if you wanted to come back to Lworld in the future then you would have to rejoin all over again.

You do have the option to suspend or hide you account too.
